Jason Kenner is a registered music therapist, researcher and tutor working within mental health and acquired brain injury rehabilitation contexts. He is informed by a resource-oriented philosophy, helping people to use music as a health resource. Jason has worked in a variety of settings including public and private hospitals, community mental health clinics, and not for profit programs. He has developed music therapy programs in public hospital and community settings, helping patients cope with hospital admission, and building communities of musicians allowing for continued engagement as individuals move through various levels of care in mental health systems. Jason is researching how music functions as a therapeutic medium in music therapy relationships. He also runs a private practice working with adults living with and recovering from brain injury. He has joined the music therapy team at Melbourne University in 2013, tutoring in guitar skills, applications in adult contexts, and coordinating the clinical placements of student music therapists.
