Overview

OverviewText1

  • My role as Foundation Chair of Anaesthesia at The University of Melbourne is to support research, teaching, and engagement in anaesthesia, perioperative and pain medicine in the 14 University-affiliated hospitals. I have two particular streams of research around perioperative care of high-risk patients. The first clinical stream includes strategies to reduce complications, particularly in the postoperative period. The second translational stream examines acid-base disorders and the underlying pathophysiology. I also direct the Melbourne Clinical and Translational Sciences (MCATS) platform, supporting research across the University and beyond, through biostatistics, health economics and health informatics.
