  • Dr Short has lectured in Human Tissue Mechanics (Forensic Biomechanics) at the University of Melbourne since 2007.

    Dr Andrew Short has been researching and practising in the area of biomechanics and injury since 1995. Since 2004, he has been providing expert reports to Solicitors and Barristers on hundreds of personal injury cases and won the Worksafe Award with Racing Victoria in October 2009 for the introduction of frangible posts to thoroughbred racetracks. 

    He investigates the circumstances of injuries in public areas, playgrounds, workplaces, shafts and tunnels for lifts and mines, and in vehicle crashes including cars, trucks, ATVs, cyclists and pedestrians. He works on civil and criminal cases and provides independent reports for both plaintiff and defence. He has fostered the development of a safety culture with the manufacturers in the racing industry. He utilises resources such as powerful 3D computer reconstruction, photogrammetric analysis of video and photograph and significant library resources to provided clear, supported logic that will stand up in court.
