- Dr Alyssia Rossetto works with the Population Mental Health Group, based at the School of Population and Global Health at the University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on understanding how and why members of the public provide assistance to people with mental illnesses. Her PhD thesis established what gaps exist in the mental health first aid skills of the public, what factors influence helping behaviours, and how this information can be used to improve both mental health first aid training and rates of helping in the community. Alyssia's broad research interests include mental health literacy, mental health first aid, early intervention with mental disorders and population mental health. She is currently assisting with a randomised controlled trial designed to evaluate the teen Mental Health First Aid program.
