Svenja Keele is a postdoctoral research fellow at MSSI, working in collaboration with the City of Melbourne Chair in Resilient Cities, Professor Lars Coenen. Dr Keele's research looks for new ways to govern complex environmental problems like climate change adaptation, urban resilience and energy transitions. She is an environmental geographer interested in the way states, markets and expertise interact to shape policy choices and create new frontiers for investment and innovation. Svenja joins MSSI after undertaking doctoral research at the University of Melbourne’s School of Geography examining the role of consultants in helping governments plan for a changing climate, and postdoctoral research at the Climate and Energy College studying the deployment of smart metering technology in Australia and Germany. Svenja also has over a decade’s professional experience in environmental planning, sustainability and climate change for government and consultancies in Australia and the UK.
