  • Andrea Cook is a Melbourne Early Career Academic Fellow in the urban planning program at the Melbourne School of Design. Andrea's work encompasses both academic and practice-based research on a range of strategic planning, placemaking, urban policy and community engagement topics. She completed her doctorate in 2014, focusing on the relationship between children's independent mobility in the city and their active citizenship on urban planning questions. The PhD was a part of a national, ARC-funded collaboration between five universities and industry partners in the health, education, government and transport areas. 

    Andrea's broader research interests include 'right to the city', planning ethics, contested spaces and citizen engagement in urban change.
