Shallow geothermal systems & energy geo-structures (ground heat exchangers, numerical modelling, ground source heat pumps, heating and cooling, renewables)
Nikolas Makasis is a Research Engineer within the department of Infrastructure Engineering, joining shortly after completing his PhD studies in early 2019. His main research interest include numerical modelling of engineering problems, specifically around heat transfer, shallow geothermal systems & energy geo-structures, the application of machine learning techniques in engineering applications and learning analytics. Nikolas has a background in both engineering (civil) as well as computer science and is passionate about applying computational, statistical and data-driven solutions to real world problems.
