Overview

OverviewText1

  • Dr Jess Fletcher completed her PhD at the University of Sydney in 2013 investigating the molecular basis of inherited diseases (lysosomal storage disease) affecting the brain. In 2015 she joined the University of Melbourne, as a Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia Postdoctoral Fellow, and was awarded the Melbourne Neuroscience Institute (MNI) Fellowship in 2018. Her research focus is determining the molecular events required for myelin plasticity and regeneration in the brain and understanding how oligodendroglia (the myelin producing cells) influence healthy brain function. Her goal is to use this knowledge to design therapies for conditions where myelin perturbations and oligodendrocyte dysfunction contribute to disability, such as Multiple Sclerosis, traumatic injury and anxiety.
