Rehabilitation Medicine (Health service and clinical research)
Dr Amatya is a Senior Project Manager at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, and Australian Rehabilitation Research Centre, Royal Melbourne Hospital. He completed his Doctor of Medicine from L’vov Medical Institute, Ukraine in 1993 and completed specialist training in Masters of Public Health (clinical Epidemiology) from the Monash University, Melbourne Australia in 2003. He is also a Member of the Disaster Rehabilitation Committee (DRC), International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM). Over 20 years he has experience in clinical practices, and medical and health services research. He has published over 70 research articles in academic journals including 12 systematic reviews (8 Cochrane reviews), 2 book chapters, 20 governmental reports, 2 clinical practice guidelines. His other expertise includes: disaster management, complex data collection methods and statistical analysis; adoption of the International Classification of Functional Disability and Health to describe patient reported disability, critical appraisals of the studies; policy review; Clinical Practice Guidelines development, grant writing, training etc. He was one of the active member of Emergency Medical Team and Rehabilitation Flying Faculty from the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
