Dr. Semple is a Research Fellow in the Department of Medicine (Royal Melbourne Hospital), based in the Melbourne Brain Centre (Kenneth Myer Building) at Parkville. Her research focuses on the acute and chronic neuropathology after traumatic injury to both the adult and pediatric brain, with a particular interest in neuroinflammation and behavioural outcomes.
Returning to Melbourne in 2015, after several years working at the University of California San Francisco, Dr. Semple is working with Prof. Terence O'Brien and others to pursue ongoing research into the relationship between neuroinflammation and post-traumatic epileptogenesis in the immature brain.
