Andrew Ellis obtained his undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications at the University of Melbourne has been an honorary Research Fellow with the Department of Medicine University of Melbourne and Senior Scientist in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Austin Health, Heidelberg Victoria since 2004.

He possesses extensive experience in the quantitation of drug/hormone/biomarkers in biological matrices and manages the Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics laboratory that has a long history of basic and clinical neuroscience research and of providing accredited pathology services analysing biogenic amines and therapeutic drug monitoring test services.

Andrew has a background in chemotherapy clinical trial research and specialises in chromatography- and mass spectrometry-based analysis and pharmacokinetics. He is currently actively involved in a variety of local and national collaborative clinical research studies and is a member of the Steering Committee for ‘Autonomic Effects in Spinal Cord Injury’, and a member of the Executive Group for ‘the eGFR Study: Accurate Assessment of Renal Function in Indigenous Australians’. In addition Andrew is experienced in: stability testing procedures for pharmaceutical formulations, the development of tailored methods for analysis of new and established drugs in biological samples, and clinical trial and accredited laboratory protocol preparation and regulatory guideline adherence.
