Sarah Webber is a Research Fellow at the Interaction Design Lab. Her research focuses on the design and use of interactive technologies in zoos.

Sarah's PhD research explored the effects that digital technologies can have on visitors’ encounters with zoo animals. As part of this work she studied the co-design of a touch-based digital enrichment system for orangutans (‘Kinecting with Orangutans’), and evaluated the installation's effects on visitors’ empathy for animals and beliefs about animal minds. At the Interaction Design Lab, Sarah has contributed to research into social and experiential aspects of digital technologies. Her work has included projects relating to social interaction in public spaces, health and wellbeing, and the privacy and ethical issues associated with storing and sharing personal information in organisations and groups. She has a professional IT background, having worked across a range of corporate, government, academic and non-profit organisations, in business analysis and project management, user research and UX evaluation.
