Mike completed his BSc (Hons) in the Genetics Department at the University of Melbourne in 2002 and a PhD in 2007. He then moved to Germany for a postdoctoral position at the University of Heidelberg, funded by a Marie Curie Fellowship, and then to the University of Cambridge.
In 2013, he was appointed Lecturer at the University of York in the UK where he established an independent research group before returning to the University of Melbourne in 2016. His research expertise and experience is primarily in plant molecular biology and genetics, applied to the fields of gene regulation, circadian biology and sugar signalling.
