Kim Dovey is Professor of Architecture and Urban Design in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. His research on social issues in architecture and urban design has included investigations of the relations of power to place, urban informality and the politics of public space.

Books include 'Framing Places: Mediating Power in Built Form' (Routledge 1999, 2008); 'Fluid City' (Routledge 2005); 'Becoming Places' (Routledge 2010); Urban Design Thinking (2016); 'Mapping Urbanities' (2107) and 'Urban Choreography' (2018). Current research projects focus on urban morphology and informal settlements.
