Caroline's background is in pure mathematics (University of São Paulo, Brazil) and she has specialized in Mathematics Education (Paris 7, France). After a post-doctoral experience in Canada and an European Fellowship in Australia, Caroline worked for 6 years at the Mathematics Department of the Université Montpellier 2, France.

She is member of the Mathematics Experts Group for PISA and has been appointed, since July 2011, Senior Lecturer in mathematics education at the University of Melbourne.

Caroline Bardini's research interests revolve around students' mathematical thinking. She has a keen interest on the issues related to the secondary-tertiary transition mathematics as well as building bridges between epistemology and mathematics education.
