Anne Buist has thirty years clinical and research experience in perinatal psychiatry. She has directed mother-baby units at the Mercy, Northpark and Austin hospitals and currently directs the perinatal outreach service at the Austin.
She was Director of the beyondblue Postnatal Depression Program 2001-5 which screened over 40,000 women Australia wide; the recommendations were accepted by the government and screening for perinatal depression implemented. Other research has included drugs in breastmilk, abuse as a risk factor for perinatal depression and use of video in enhancing attachment. Past appointments include president of the Australasian Marce, RANZCP OSCE committee, University Undergraduate education committee, Child Death Review committee, and the Ministerial Advisory committee on women's health.
