I am a Melbourne Enterprise Fellow (Associate Professor) with a focus on Integrative Environmental Research, which means working to increase the impact of environmental research into public value outcomes (i.e., policy, planning, management and regulation). I am a marine ecologist by trade and have worked in (and with) academia, government and industry in Australia and the USA, including more than 15 years in leadership roles in public sector science organisations.

My experience spans environmental regulation, coastal and marine climate adaptation, citizen science and conservation science. My growing research areas include environmental impacts (plastics and other pollutants), coastal adaptation to climate change, citizen science and integrating research into practice in Government. I am an experienced Executive and Board level scientific leader, and a qualified Board Director (Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors). I focus on simplifying the complexities facing decision-makers using science and research. Others have said that “Anthony speaks Science, Government and plain English”.I am involved in the National Centre for Coasts and Climate (https://nccc.edu.au/) and CAPIM (https://capim.unimelb.edu.au/).
