Maureen's major focus of research and academic interest is Indigenous legal issues with particular emphasis on native title, heritage protection and land access, use and management. She has a major interest in comparative Canadian law in these areas.

She teaches in these areas as well as in Property in both the Graduate and Undergraduate programmes. Her publications and graduate studies reflect these interests.

Immediately prior to joining the Faculty, Maureen was a solicitor with the Pitjantjatjara and Ngaanyatjatjarra Councils and continues to undertake consultancies in the area.
