My training has been within the field of general surgery, with specialization in Advanced liver, pancreas and biliary surgery. I received my board certification in surgery in Australia (F.R.A.C.S) after which I continued with further training the USA in Liver, Pancreas and Foregut Surgery and Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic and Endoscopic surgery.

This included Clinical surgery at Penn State University, Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania followed by Clinical Surgery at Case Western Reserve University, University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio. In addition time was spent undertaking clinical pancreatic research at Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. I have a particular interest in liver and pancreatic cancer, including treatment of locally advanced or borderline resectable cancer. I also have a strong interest in re-operative liver and pancreatic surgery and advanced laparoscopic pancreas and liver surgery. I am one of the few surgeons in Australia who performs laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (Laparoscopic Whipple’s Procedure). My basic research interests are in the areas of pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis and colorectal liver metastases. I am currently an Associate Professor on the HPB / Transplant unit at the Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne, Austin Hospital. I am the current president of the Australasian Panceatic Club (www.pancreas.org.au.au) and founder of the not for profit organisation, Panacare Foundation (www.pancare.org.au). I have private practice privelages at several hospitals, including Warringal, Epworth, Knox and Jowhn Fawlkner hospitals. Patients can be seen privately through my Heidelberg office on Phone Number (03) 9458 5100 or Fax (03) 9458 5199. Alternatively patient enquiries or referrals for managment of liver, pancreas or biliary problems can also be made through email: LPBSurgery@gmail.com.
