A/Professor Andrew Crowden is honorary Associate Professor in the Rural Health Academic Centre in the Melbourne Medical School at The University of Melbourne, adjunct Associate Professor in Ethics, Law and Professional Practice in the School of Medicine, and in the School of History Philosophy Religion and Classics, at the University of Queensland. Andrew is the current Research Ethics stream leader for the Australasian Association of Bioethics and Health Law (AABHL), a member of NHMRC’s HoMER Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ Research Group, and a member of the NHMRC Certification Assessor Panel (HoMER).

He has been Chairperson of Mater Health Services Human Research Ethics Committee and a member of the Mater Clinical Ethics Committee in Brisbane, Deputy Chairperson of the Victorian Government Ministerial Consultative Council for Human Research Ethics, Chairperson of Austin Health HREC in Melbourne, Bioethicist on Northeast Health HREC, the appointed Ethicist on the South Australian Government Human Research sub committee, and the Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences Dean’s nominee to Deakin University HREC.
