EDUCATION:Senior Lecturer, Andrew O'Keefe, graduated from the Bachelor of Film and Television at the VCA in 2001. In 2014, Andrew completed his Masters Degree (Research) which explores the dynamics of collaboration during the co-writing of a feature-length screenplay. He is now knee-deep in a practice-led PhD shared between the Faculty of Arts (SCC) and the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music (FTV).

The project aims to design a methodology for film directors and collaborators to apply Visual Subtext to a narrative film. CREATIVE OUTPUTAfter graduation, Andrew formed the production company Apocalypse Films ( www.apocalypsefilms.com ). His debut feature film 'The Independent', released in 2008, is a political satire that tells the story of an ill-fated political candidate during Australia's Howard-era of politics. The film screened in over 30 cinemas throughout the country and gained favourable reviews from ABC's At the Movies, The Herald Sun, In Film, Urban Cinefile, with FilmInk magazine calling it "a rare gem in the Australian comedy landscape".In 2016, his second feature film as writer/director/producer, an adaptation of Dostoevsky's "Crime & Punishment", won more than a dozen awards at Australian and International festivals. The film was selected to open the world academic conference, held at the University of British Columbia in Canada, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the publication of the novel. in 2019, Andrew is working across a number of projects: (i) "Mongrel", his 3rd feature film as writer/director/producer will form part of his PhD; (ii) he will direct the romantic comedy "Unready" written by colleague Philippa Burne; and (iii) Andrew is halfway through production on a podcast series which is investigating a series of UFO sightings and experiences in central Victoria in 1977. It will be a busy year.
