Jennifer Grafton is an Associate Professor of Management Accounting in the Department of Accounting and currently the Associate Dean (Global Engagement) for the Faculty of Business and Economics, at the University of Melbourne. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Commerce (Degree with Honours) from the University of Melbourne.

Jennifer previously worked for Arthur Andersen, consulting to a range of private and public sector organisations. Jennifer’s research and teaching interests span management accounting and business forensics and fraud. Her research investigates issues of performance measurement and management control as they relate to organisational performance management, particularly in not-for-profit contexts. She supervises honours and graduate research students in this field. Jennifer’s research has been published in leading international journals, including: Management Science, Accounting, Organizations and Society, and Management Accounting Research. Jennifer is a member of the editorial board for Qualitative Research in Accounting and Management, the Journal of Applied Accounting Research, and the American Accounting Association’s field journal, Forensic Accounting Research. Jennifer has received research funding from the Accounting Association of Australia and New Zealand and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (in both Australasia and the United Kingdom). Her research was awarded the David Solomon prize by the journal Management Accounting Research. Jennifer teaches into the Faculty’s undergraduate, graduate coursework and graduate research degrees, as well as executive education programs. Jennifer is a registered Chartered Accountant. She is Chair of the Management Accounting Special Interest Group for the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand and Chair of the Research Advisory Board for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (Australasia). She is also a member of the International Committee of the Management Accounting Section of the American Accounting Association, the Executive Management Committee of the University of Melbourne’s Confucius Institute, and the Advisory Board of the Faculty’s Centre for Asian Business and Economics. As Associate Dean (Global Engagement), Jennifer is responsible for the development and implementation of the Faculty’s global engagement strategy and activities, the management of the Faculty’s international partnerships and collaborations, and enhancing the Faculty’s international standing and contributions.
