Originally an English and History teacher, Dianne's research interests lie in theoretical and empirical work on knowledge, identities and professional practice in the context of secondary and tertiary sectors of education. Presently, she is researching aspects of the materiality of learning, and their implications for pedagogy and professional practice.

She has a particular interest in poststructural theory, especially as this has been developed in the work of Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze and Bruno Latour. These interests are pursued empirically using qualitative and semiotic methods, along with discourse analysis.
