Dr David Kok is a Radiation Oncologist and Associate Director of Radiation Oncology (Education) working at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. He treats all tumour subtypes but has a particular interest in skin and neurological malignancies.
He has expertise in the use of Stereotactic Radiosurgery, VMAT and Intensity Modulated radiotherapy to achieve the best possible outcomes for his patients.
Currently David is Course Convenor of the Master of Cancer Science Program, run jointly by the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre. This is the flagship course of the VCCC, Australia's largest oncology alliance. In 2010 he completed a Master of Education and Medical Education Fellowship with a focus on developing curricula and educational programs that acknowledge and maximize the benefit of individual learning styles as opposed to 'one size fits all' approaches. He also serves as Director of Training for radiation oncology registrars.
He is currently involved in a number of major Australian and international research projects. This includes leading a translational research program exploring the genomic profiles of metastatic brain cancers to improve personalised treatment options for patients. Other projects include investigating the clinical and genetic predictors of outcome following radiosurgery, as well as nuclear imaging methods to determine response. He has previously published a thesis on breast cancer treatment patterns and multiple articles relating to best practice in tertiary medical education.
