Colleen Holt

Colleen completed her PhD in Audiology and Linguistics at The University of Melbourne. Her doctoral work investigated the perception and production of prosody by adolescent cochlear implant users, using an autosegmental-metrical approach.

Colleen's current research is based around two themes:

  • How the use of a cochlear implant affects language development in those who speak lexical tone languages such as Cantonese, and;
  • Whether using a cochlear implant affects language processing.

In 2011, Colleen developed the Phonetics and Linguistics subjects of the Master of Speech Pathology which has been offered at The University of Melbourne since 2011.

She was Subject Coordinator for these subjects from 2011-2015.

Colleen is also employed in the Office of the Associate Pro Vice Chancellor (Coursework) in the College of Science, Health and Engineering at La Trobe University, where she is Deputy Coordinator for the Core FIrst Year (Health Courses) and Subject Coordinator of a work-integrated learning placement subject.
