My principal research interests lie in understanding the evolution of drug resistance in bacteria as well as use of metagenomics as a tool for understanding microbiome dynamics of the built environment. I am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics at the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit Public Health Laboratory, Department of Microbiology and Immunology, University of Melbourne.

We use computational approaches to detect, characterise and resolve outbreaks for public and clinical health surveillance. In previous roles, I have worked as a postdoctoral fellow in genomics and bioinformatics (Holt Lab UoM; Division of Infection and Immunity WEHI) and travelled on biological surveys as a marine and freshwater biologist to remote areas including Antarctica, Indonesia, Vietnam and New Guinea. An up-to-date list of my publications can be found at https://goo.gl/py55BT
