After completing my PhD at the University of Melbourne (2007), I did my post-doctoral training at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology Institute, Singapore with an Australian Endeavour Research Fellowship. I pursued a short stint at the Burnet Institute in 2009, before returning to the University of Melbourne in 2010.

I led a small research team to conduct a commercial contract research towards identifying a GM-CSF gene signature under the auspices of as MorphoSys AG, conducting Phase I anti-GM-CSF clinical trial in rheumatoid arthritis. Following the successful completion of the trial, GlaxoSmithKline acquired the rights to conduct Phase IIb clinical trials. Subsequently, I was instrumental in securing a four-year commercial research contract with GlaxoSmithKline to investigate the molecular mechanisms responsible for GM-CSF-mediated inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis. A number of publications in leading journals and a significant patent emerged from this. In 2018, I was appointed as the Honours Coordinator at the Department of Medicine, Royal Melbourne Hospital overseeing the largest cohort of Honour students in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at the University of Melbourne.
