Associate Professor Andrew Burns is an Interventional and Echo Cardiologist at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne with ongoing research interest in Coronary Physiology, Valvular Heart Disease and Pulmonary Hypertension. Having completed a Bachelor of Medical Science whilst studying in Oxford, UK, A/Prof Burns graduated with Honours from his medical degree.

He went on to complete Advanced Training in Cardiology, a Doctor of Medicine and an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship.

A/Prof Burns has published 12 first author peer-reviewed manuscripts and over 20 co-authored manuscripts in a variety of fields. He co-supervises PhD students investigating novel pulmonary and coronary physiology indices.

As an Interventional Cardiologist, Andrew performs over 500 diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation procedures each year, including over 200 percutaneous coronary interventions.

A/Prof Burns established a Cardiology consultation service within the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service and collaborates with Rheumatic Heart Disease Australia to improve the care of RHD in Victoria. He is the Victorian Representative on the Cardiology Advanced Training Committee of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and the lead in Overseas Trained Physician assessment. His Academic and Clinical practice is based at St Vincent's Public Hospital and his Private practice at St Vincent's Private Hospital and at the Mercy Private Consulting suites, 32/141 Grey St East Melbourne (94195339).
