Associate Professor Colleen Butcher-Gollach, Principal Fellow, University of Melbourne works and conducts practice-oriented research at the nexus of global affordable land and housing, disaster risk reduction and urban governance issues. As a non-resident academic, Colleen consults to the World Bank, UNDP, the Australian and New Zealand Governments and other international organizations on the opportunities and challenges of urbanization - particularly for low income earners living in unplanned, extra-legal settlements, and on post-disaster and climate vulnerability assessments and disaster risk reduction.

She currently is an international lead technical advisor on six World Bank and UNDP projects in South and East Asia and Pacific Island Countries including the design of city resilience programs and use of spatial (GIS) analytical techniques to complement local participatory approaches for inclusion and poverty reduction. She annually co-teaches the Masters of Urban Planning elective "Cities Without Slums" (since 2010).
