My work centers on ontology and essence. I defend a response-dependent account of ordinary objects.

I argue that objects that have de re modal properties depend for their existence partly on our dispositions to have various sort-responses.

I defended my dissertation at the University of California at Davis in November 2009. Whilst in graduate school, I was a visiting student at the Australian National University, UNC at Chapel Hill, and the University of Arizona. Prior to graduate school, I earned a BA in Political Studies at Bard College in upstate NY and a TEFL certificate from Cambridge University in England.

When not philosophizing, I can be found travelling, scuba diving, reading, and playing with my beagle, Hadley, or son, Tom.
