Tu Nguyen

Tu is committed to a research career in cancer genetics/genomics, with the overall goal of furthering our understanding of the genomic basis of cancer predisposition and improving personalised clinical management. She has an emerging track record in breast cancer genetics, high-throughput DNA screening methods, genetic variant interpretation, massively parallel sequencing (MPS) and bioinformatics. She completed a PhD in breast cancer genetics in the Genetic Cancer Susceptibility group at the International Agency for Research on Cancer/World Health Organization (IARC/WHO, France), during which she received a PhD Fellowship from Fondation de France and a Special Trainee Award from IARC/WHO.

In 2011, she was awarded a Komen Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship, which allowed her to gain international research experience by moving to Melbourne and training at the Genetic Epidemiology Laboratory. As a Research Fellow, she leads key aspects of well-advanced international multidisciplinary studies of cancer., with a particular focus on childhood, breast and prostate cancers, and inherited predisposition to these cancers.
