Dr Sian Supski is Research Fellow in Sociology in the Centre for Stem Cell Systems at The University of Melbourne. She is currently working on a project entitled, ‘Genetic Engineering on Steroids’: Mapping contemporary discourses on mammalian cell design to enhance public engagement’.
The project examines how synthetic biology features in public debates and discussions about this new potentially disruptive scientific field. Sian gained her PhD at Curtin University and has written two books, and published numerous book chapters and refereed journal articles in the broad field of cultural sociology.She is a Commissioning Editor of the international journal Thesis Eleven: Critical Theory and Historical Sociology. She has a research affiliation with Sichuan University, PRC.
