Irina Rudeva

Irina completed her PhD at Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Moscow in 2008. She conducted research into the characteristics of extratropical cyclones.

A key aspect of this work was composites of cyclone sea-air interaction characteristics over the North Atlantic.
Irina is interested in understanding the mechanisms of climate variability by performing the diagnostics of reanalyses, operational analyses and global model outputs. She is currently a post-doctoral research fellow at University of Melbourne studying cyclones, fronts and precipitation over the globe. Her research interests also include sensitivity of cyclone characteristics to identification methods, datasets, as well as climate change.
