I am a surgeon-scientist currently appointed as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery – University of Melbourne with an emerging international profile in HepatoPancreatoBiliary surgery and Liver Transplantation. This is reflected by the number of publications (more than 60 international peer reviewed papers, 45 published abstracts, 21 book chapters) and international invited lecturers (9) and by my role as convenor /co-organizer of international and national conferences (ASC-RACS, World Congress of the IHPBA – International HepatoPancreatoBiliary Association).

My major focus is the biology of liver metastases and clinical trials to determine the outcomes after HPB surgery and liver transplantation. I also have an special interest in new surgical techniques and minimally invasive surgery. My educational activities span the spectrum from undergraduates to post-graduate students and surgical trainees. These involve both teaching, mentoring and curriculum development (Masters of Surgical Science).Such achievements have been reached in the context of a clinical-surgeon. I seek a further step towards realizing a vision to continue the investigation of tumour biology in colorectal liver metastases and the role of surgery in complex HPB tumours. My contribution to the University of Melbourne and to the Department of Surgery involves all these areas. Research interest areas: - Colorectal liver metastases - Laparoscopic liver surgery - Liver transplantation - Living related liver transplantation - Liver cancer - hepatocarcinoma - Surgical treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma
