Michael Palmer

 

Dr Michael Palmer is a development economist specialising in the field of health. Broadly, his research examines the impact of health on poverty.

His research has focused on the economics of disability and social protection policies in low- and middle-income countries. He is developing new research interests on the long term impact of warfare on health and poverty. His main research work has been in Vietnam where he has lived and worked for four years, including positions at the University of Economics (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Hanoi School of Public Health. He obtained his PhD from the Australian National University in 2011.
