Doctor Pasi K. Korhonen (PhD) is an NHMRC Early Career Fellow, undertaking genomic research on parasitic organisms within the Pathogen Genomics and Genetics Program (PGGP) in The University of Melbourne. He uses a bioinformatics and computational approach through automated software pipelines to undertake genomic and molecular research on genomic data sets to understand the biology and pathogenesis of parasitic organisms.

Dr Pasi Korhonen first completed Master’s in computer science and started his career in Finland in the nineties, working for Nokia as a software engineer in telecom networks. During his time at Nokia, he worked in many roles in software development, project and line management, and he gained international experience in Düsseldorf, Germany and Melbourne, Australia. From 2007 to 2011, while still working, Dr Korhonen completed a Bachelor in Biochemistry and Master’s in Bioinformatics, and relocated to Melbourne in 2012 to work for Prof. Robin Gasser at The University of Melbourne, where he completed his PhD in Bioinformatics in Parasitology in 2016. Currently Dr Korhonen holds an NHMRC fellowship and works on the multi-omics of pathogens.
