I am a mathematician with a varied experience in modelling biological and environmental systems.
I write computer code mostly in R and Maple.
In the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis my diverse tasks have included:

  • filtering free-text importation records to discern patterns,
  • writing code to scrape a bibliographic database and visualise results.
My PhD developed some new mathematical theory to address some inconvenient questions in the modelling of biomolecular interactions:
  • Is it possible to anticipate when we cannot obtain a unique estimate for each parameter of a model?
  • What can we do about this?

In order to demonstrate some of my mathematical tools, I have recently started to experiment with Python and JuPYTeR notebooks.
Past roles include:
  • Research Assistant in the School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne, working on a project relating to within-host malaria modelling,
  • Technical Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Applied and Industrial Mathematics,
  • Research Associate in the School of Mathematical Sciences, The University of Adelaide, on an ARC Discovery Project relating to rainfall-runoff modelling in the Murray--Darling Basin.
