Ali Kashani

 

Dr Alireza (Ali) Kashani is a Research Fellow in the Department of Infrastructure Engineering. He obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne.

He has extensive experience in research, development, and commercialization of advanced materials in the construction industry and academia. He is a member of ARC-Training Centre for Advanced Manufacturing of Prefabricated Housing (ARC-CAMPH) under the management of Prof. Priyan Mendis and Prof. Tuan Ngo. His main area of research is developing materials such as concrete, metal and composites for 3D printing (additive manufacturing) of the next generation of structures. His other main area of research is sustainable construction materials including valorisation of municipal wastes such as recovered glass and waste tyre in construction and civil engineering applications, as well as, low carbon concrete and geopolymer concrete. He has been worked as the Project Leader in a few funded projects by government entities and leaders of the construction industry in Australia. His other research interests are concrete rheology, self-compacting concrete, shotcrete, lightweight concrete foam composites and coatings.
