Chris McCaw lecturer at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education. His specific research interest is in the intersection of contemplative practices (meditation, mindfulness, etc) and education.

More broadly his research concerns the lives and work of teachers, philosophy and sociology of education. Chris' PhD research explored the implications of contemplative practices for teacher professional becoming. His work is grounded in philosophical (Heidegger) and applied phenomenology (van Manen), and theories of social practice (Schatzki). Chris also hold a number of teaching roles within the MGSE Master of Teaching (Secondary) and coordinate a subject in the MGSE undergradute breadth program. He has taught for eight years in secondary education, teaching VCE Philosophy, VCE Extended Investigation and integrated humanities courses, focusing on experiential and inquiry learning.
