Margie Danchin

Dr Margie Danchin is a general paediatrician and post-doctoral researcher based at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute in Victoria. She completed her NHMRC-funded PhD in 2006, on the burden of Group A Streptococcal pharyngitis in Australian families, and currently works 0.4EFT in research and 0.2EFT as a paediatrician.

She completed advanced training in Vaccinology and, during her NHMRC-funded post-doctoral period, conducted an NHMRC-funded phase I vaccine clinical trial for a new rotavirus vaccine, RV3-BB. She is an investigator on the phase IIa clinical trial in New Zealand (ongoing). She is extensively involved in vaccine research focused on vaccine safety, new strategies to enhance the performance of existing vaccines in different settings and the development of new, innovative training methods to improve the knowledge and communication methods of both paediatricians and GPs to reduce parental vaccine hesitancy. As a general paediatrician, she is also focussed on the conduct of rigorous clinical trials, for common high-impact paediatric problems, which will improve child health outcomes and ultimately result in the translation of research findings into clinical practice and policy.
