Joshua Pocius is an early-career researcher and lecturer in Gender Studies at the University of Melbourne. With a scholarly background in sociology, gender studies, cultural studies and screen studies, his current research critically examines the biopolitics of health and illness, pharmaceuticalisation of everyday life and the somatechnics of drugs.

His doctoral thesis was awarded in 2017 and examined the screen-mediation of HIV/AIDS in the “post-AIDS” era in AIDS nostalgia films, global event media, edutainment media and gay pornographic media in North America, China, Nigeria and Kenya.
