Associate Professor Constantine Tam is an academic haematologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, where he is Director of Haematology, and the Lead for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) and Low-Grade Lymphoma Program at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC). Dr Tam graduated in 1998 from the University of Melbourne, dual trained in haematology and haematopathology, and completed a Leukemia Fellowship at the MD Anderson Cancer Center as well as a research Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Tam participated in the development program for multiple novel agents including lenalidomide, ibrutinib, ABT-199, IPI-145 and CTL-019. He is principally responsible for the clinical development of the second-generation BTK inhibitor BGB-3111, writing and leading the phase I study, and participating in the steering committees for registration phase III studies in CLL and Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia. Dr Tam negotiated, designed, conducted and completed the first study in the world to combine ibrutinib and venetoclax in any disease.Since 2012, Dr Tam received over $14 million in competitive grant or industry funding, either as Chief or Associate Investigator. He has authored 148 papers, with a total of 3896 Web of ScienceTM citations. In 2013, Dr Tam was awarded the Herman Clinical Fellowship for Translational Cancer Research from the University of Melbourne.
