Dr. Grant Blashki has been a practicing GP for over 20 years and is an Associate Professor in Global Health at the Nossal Institute for Global Health at the University of Melbourne. He has a professional website www.blashki.com and a patient education website www.familydoctor.expert.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and has served as an examiner for the fellowship. His three themes of teaching and research are; 1) General Practice/ Primary Care 2) Sustainability and 3) Mental Health. He has co-authored over 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, 4 books, over 30 peer reviewed conference abstracts, and more than 20 government/policy reports. He is the lead editor of the textbook General Practice Psychiatry that has been translated into Italian and Mandarin. Previously, he was the lead developer of the Monash University/ University of Melbourne Masters of General Practice Psychiatry that trained over 150 doctors by distance education and for which he received a Monash University Silver Jubilee Prize for Teaching. In 2012, he was invited to give the Inaugural Eric Dark Memorial Lecture. He has previously served in a number of university leadership roles; as a member of the executive and head of knowledge transfer at the Department of General Practice at the University of Melbourne, and, at Monash University, as a founding member of the Monash Medical Foundation, as Co-Chair of Bachelor of Medical Sciences Committee and as a member of the Monash University Standing Committee on Ethics Research in Humans. He has been actively engaged with community work including as Board Director of the Australian Conservation Foundation, a Board Member of Bialik College, a clinical advisor to beyondblue, as a mentor in the Al Gore Climate Leadership Project, as a cofounder of Doctors for the Environment Australia, as Member of the Strategic Advisory Group of the Climate Institute, and he was a participant in the Australia 2020 summit participant. In 2008, he was a co-recipient of the Fundraisers Institute of Australia’s Major Grants fundraising award for philanthropic work. In 2009 he was co recipient of an Australian Evaluation Society Award for Excellence in Evaluation in relation to evaluation of major primary health care reforms in Australia. In 2012, he was a successful applicant and graduated from the Sidney Myer Asia Link Leadership Program. He is a Graduate and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and in 2011 was the invited speaker for the graduation ceremony.
