Associate Professor Catriona Bradshaw is a sexual health physician with a strong interest in clinical and epidemiological research in sexually transmitted infections. She is based at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre where she works as a consultant and holds Honorary Associate Professorial positions at the Central Clinical School, Monash University and the School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne.

Catriona graduated from Monash University (MBBS, Hons) in 1992, became a fellow of the Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine, Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2003 and completed a PhD at the School of Population Health, University of Melbourne in 2006. She undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, from 2007-2010. Catriona’s PhD and post-doctorate were supported by NHMRC fellowships, she was a recipient of the L’Oreal Australia Women in Science Fellowship in 2007, the Sexual Health Medicine Award for a fellow of less than 10 years standing in 2009 and the Sexual Health Medicine Award for an outstanding contribution to research in Sexual Health Medicine in 2013. Catriona has broad involvement in the sexual health research programme at Melbourne Sexual Health Centre and also runs two specific programmes of clinical and epidemiological research on bacterial vaginosis and Mycoplasma genitalium, which has led to improvements in the diagnosis and management of these conditions. She has over 110 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals, has supervised a number of PhD, BMedSci and Scholarly selective students to completion, is on the editorial boards of BMC Infectious Diseases and Sexually Transmitted Infections, and has been a member of working groups for the development of national and international STI treatment guidelines, including those for the Centre of Disease Control, USA.
