Nicholas Ryan

Dr Ryan is a practicing Clinical Neuropsychologist and social cognitive neuroscience researcher. As a clinician-scientist, Dr Ryan balances his clinical and academic work with his program of research in neurodevelopmental and acquired brain disorders.

Broadly defined, his research aims to explore the various developmental, neuropathological, environmental, and genetic factors that interact to produce neurobehavioral phenotypes. To date, Dr Ryan’s research has primarily focused on delineating the neurobiological and psychosocial underpinnings of cognitive disorders and social dysfunction after paediatric acquired brain insults (e.g. traumatic brain injury, stroke, epilepsy). This program of research employs a range of neuroimaging and behavioural methodologies to identify modifiable risk factors that may be amenable to intervention.
