Lara is currently studying a PhD in positive psychology and youth sport coaching. As part of her PhD she has developed an online training program for youth football (soccer) coaches called Growth-Focused Sports Coaching (G-FSC).

The program teaches coaches about coaching styles linked to higher quality motivation and flourishing in youth athletes. It draws on self-determination theory, achievement goal theory, strengths, hope theory, goal setting and mindfulness. Lara also holds a BSc in Philosophy with Computing and a MA in Philosophy with Historical Studies from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK as well as a Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) from the University of Melbourne. Lara has developed positive psychology subjects at the University of Melbourne and La Trobe University and has previously taught at on the Master of Management at Monash University. Lara currently works at the Centre for Positive Psychology in the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
