Ana Eclair (nee Dragojlovic) is an Associate Professor in Gender Studies and an Insight Fellow at the Contemplative Studies Centre at the University of Melbourne. Her research intersects queer feminist, decolonial, care, and affect studies to investigate the ways in which structural inequalities shape people's experiences of everyday life. She employs mixed methods, including queer feminist ethnography and textual and discourse analysis to explore subjugated knowledges surrounding gender, sexuality, wellbeing and diverse modes of being and belonging within complex societal contexts.

She is currently leading the following research projects: a. Submerged Histories: Memory Activism in Indonesia and the Netherlands b. How Are Mindfulness Meditation Teachers Implementing Social Justice Literacy in Their Classes? c. Queer Possibilities: Can Mindfulness Foster Queer Self-affirmation? d. Can Algorithms Teach us to be Kind and Compassionate? f. Decolonising Health and Wellbeing.

After receiving her PhD from the Australian National University, A/Prof Eclair held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Queensland and the International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) in Leiden. She has held Visiting Fellow appointments at the Gender and Postcolonial Studies (Utrecht University); the Centre for Feminist Research, Goldsmiths (University of London); and the Department of Social Anthropology (University of Cambridge).

A/Prof Eclair was the Head of Gender Studies Program during a time of significant growth and expansion. She is currently co-leading the following research networks: a. History, Memory and Decolonial Futures Research Collective and b. Contemplative Practices and Social Change.

A/Prof Eclair is the author of Beyond Bali: Subaltern Citizens and Post-Colonial Intimacy, co-author of Bodies and Suffering: Emotions and Relations of Care (with Alex Broom), co-editor of Gender, Violence, Power: Indonesia Across Time and Space, (with Kate McGregor and Hannah Loney), co-editor of Tracing Silences (with Annemarie Samuels), co-editor of Queering Memory (with CQ Quinan), and co-editor of Decolonising Memory (with Kate McGregor).

Prospective PhD students with an interest in queer feminist approaches to embodiment, wellbeing, memory, trauma, migration, and care are encouraged to reach out.
