Dr. Bo Qin joined the University of Melbourne in July 2015 as Associate Professor of Accounting and became tenured in December 2019. Before joining UniMelb, he held appointments at University of Amsterdam as well as University of Groningen where he earned his PhD in 2010.

In 2005, Bo received his MSc in Accounting from Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Before moving to the Netherlands, Bo was a market entry consultant with Frost & Sullivan, one of the world-leading growth strategy consulting firms. Bo's research interests include but not limited to corporate governance, executive compensation, financial reporting, textual analysis, say on pay, CEO succession, and top management team. His PhD research focused on performance-vested stock options and corporate governance, while his current research projects sit at the interface between financial accounting system and management accounting system. Bo has published in prestigious journals, including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, and European Accounting Review. His research on say on pay has been covered by popular media such as PR Magazine and ANZ bluenotes. In 2011, his monograph (co-authored with Steven Balsam and Yu Flora Kuang) “Executive Compensation Practices in the UK: A Guide to Governance, Taxation & Accounting” was published by WorldatWork, the world-leading human resources association. Bo is currently an editor for Corporate Governance: An International Review (CGIR), with a one-year (5-year) impact factor of 3.390 (4.408) in 2018. Bo also serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for journals including The Accounting Review, Contemporary Accounting Research, Management Science, European Accounting Review, Management Accounting Research, Accounting and Business Research, Abacus, Accounting and Finance, European Financial Management, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting & Economics. Bo has been ranked #3 top reviewers for the University of Melbourne and #1 top handling editors for CGIR on Publons.
