Dr Li Huang joined the Health Economics Unit at the University of Melbourne in 2015 as a Research Fellow. She completed her PhD in Economics at Monash University in 2014, and has expertise in theoretical and empirical modelling in Economics.

Her research focuses on Health Economics, Labour Economics, and topics on subjective well-being. She has active engagements with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and the Royal Children's Hospital, and holds a consulting role advising clinicians to incorporate Health Economics into medical studies. She has conducted several economic evaluation programmes alongside clinical and community trials with the results published in high impact journals. She is driving projects examining income-related inequality in health care use and spending for children.
She has published in leading international journals including Social Science and Medicine, The New England Journal of Medicine, and Lancet Infectious Diseases. One of her methodological projects has estimated the monetary value of health using subjective wellbeing valuation method.
