Currently, I am a Visiting Scholar at Tsinghua University (Beijing) under the Global Talent Fellowship Program. Prior I came to Tsinghua, I was a CAS-PIFI Professorial Fellow in Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing, China.

I have a PhD in Geography from University College London (UCL). My research interests include water resource management, ecosystem and food web dynamics of lowland floodplain wetlands of the large river basins of Australia and Asia including China, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal and India. I also have research interests on environmental change of mountain lakes and reservoirs of Europe, Asia and the Asian Himalayas. I have expertise in reconstruction of past environmental change of lakes and reservoirs using subfossil cladoceran (zooplankton) as indicators. I was awarded the Australia-China Science and Research Fund (ACSRF) from the Government of Australia to carry out research jointly with the Nanjing Institute of Geography and Limnology (NIGLAS). I am one of international collaborating scientists of the key National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) project “Resilience of the Yangtze River Basin” in NIGLAS. I am also a part of the research programs at Tsinghua University (Beijing) on Water Resources Developments in World’s River Basins as well as Fish Conservation and Management in Lake and River systems across the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau (China).
